Building a Home Around an Active Lifestyle
This custom home was designed for a family that wanted more than a traditional acreage build.
The home needed to feel elegant and comfortable, but it also had to support a highly active lifestyle. That meant planning for spaces that usually exist outside the home and bringing them into the structure in a way that felt intentional.
The result is a home that combines everyday living, recreation, fitness, and natural views in one cohesive plan.
What the home needed to support:
- Daily fitness and recreation
- Indoor sports and golf practice
- Relaxation and recovery spaces
- Strong visual connection to the surrounding acreage
Every part of the design and build process was tied back to how the family would actually use the home.
Built With Intention, Designed To Be Used
Key elements of this project include:
- Indoor sport court and dedicated workout room
- Golf simulator and sauna for recreation and recovery
- Large windows and doors that frame the acreage setting
- Custom built-ins, shelving, and desk spaces throughout the home
- Water management planning for a challenging high-water-table site
This home was built around real daily use, not just square footage.
The finished result gives the family space to live, train, gather, relax, and continue growing into the property over time.
Projects like this are about building around how a family actually lives.
The fitness spaces get a lot of attention, and they should. But the site work mattered just as much. With the high water table, we had to stay ahead of water from the beginning and make sure the basement was protected long term.
A few things stand out:
- The way the sport court, workout room, simulator, and sauna all work together
- Managing the water conditions during construction
- Positioning the home to take advantage of the acreage views
- Building in storage and work areas so the home stays functional
When those pieces are handled correctly, the home supports the way the family lives every day.
